Ariadne is the daughter of King Minos of Crete in Greek mythology. She gave Theseus a thread to lay a trail into the labyrinth where the Minotaur lived, so Theseus could kill the Minotaur and find his way back out. Theseus, who Ariadne loved, took her with him when he left, but abandoned her on an island. She was found by Dionysus, a god, who took her as his goddess. Ariadne is an ancient Greek name that essentially means “the most sacred one”. Ariadne is a liminal guide who holds the thread that lets others navigate in the dark. She is the “consecrated thread-holder”.

The Greek word labyrinth refers to a maze-like structure with a single path through it. They date back to prehistory. The labyrinth serves as an inner path by purposely removing one from the common understanding of linear time and direction between two points. The labyrinth also moves us toward the center and away from the center, similar to detours that can surprise and enlighten us. It is circular and meandering and can lead one to discover their true path in life.

Ariadne’s Thread is a personal story of healing and transformation, to spark possibilities in your own life for a journey of healing and transformation. The journey is not just about my own transformation, but about my purpose to reach back to others on the path to support them on their journey. It is in connection with others that we find new possibilities and support, and realize that life on Mother Earth is a journey.

The personal story I share is one of healing the body-mind-spirit. Currently, my wellness journey has continued for 15 years, and the change I have undergone has been profound. What I have learned along the way has literally blown my mind open to “millions of possibilities”. During my personal and professional life, I have been engaged with hundreds of individual people and groups of people in various settings. I love connecting with people; it brings me energy and opens up more possibilities to explore in my own life.

Ariadne’s Thread incorporates a personal story of healing, the teaching of wisdom learned along the way, and names of resources that acted as signposts. It is a journey of the heart, with profound realizations, lots of feelings, and tremendous highs and lows.
